Breakfast, lunch and dinner in Johannesburg
We are coming and going through Joberg on our way to and from safari, we are staying at the Michelangelo Hotel. We love bistros and authentic food. We can travel if necessary but would prefer to walk it if possible. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!!

the only thing authentic you will find around Sandton is authentic SA mall food. Also, joburg is not really a walking city -- though from your hotel you can walk to Mandela Square but you are just eating in a mall. That being said Bukhara is a world class indian restaurant and is probably a 3 minute walk out the "mall entrance" of your hotel. If you dont mind a bit of a drive i like Melville Grill in Melville. Its run by an ethiopian guy who used to own a place in NYC. they are primarily a very good SA steak house but if you ask you can order from there ethiopian menu --which i think is pretty delicious. Also a fun area to walk around in. If you want to pay New York prices try the restaurant in the Melrose Arch hotel -- fancy but quite good.
