Now that we live in Chino we head to El Chollo in La Habra when we need some Mexican comfort. Great chile rellenos. The small bar area was inhabited by mostly Latino men and locals...atmosphere was friendly, old Ensenada without any of that "Hussongs" element- never trendy. The neighborhood was somewhat "tenous" after dark (police warned us a few times not to spend any unnecessary time in the parking lot due to gang problems, but I never felt challenged). It was always packed with locals/families/students on a Friday night, guaranteed ranchero music on the radio.
