I prefer Hiro over Blue because I hate fusion sushi. But once Blue opens up their Old Market location in a few weeks, I'll be eating downstairs instead of driving west. I talked to Tom, owner of Blue, and he told me the layout of the Old Market location, it's going to be insanely posh. Sakura Bana doesn't hold a candle to the other two, maybe before they relocated and raised prices, but not with the price hike.

I think for atmosphere and consistently good food Sakura Bana can't be beat. It's the oldest sushi place in town (though they're in a new building) and has always treated me right.

I was just going just going to recommend Sakura Bana as well. Blue seems to get all the kudos around town but I wonder how much of that has to do with people impressed with its in-your-face vibe vs the food. Sakura Bana is a lot more laid back but overall more consistent in product and service

It all depends on what I'm in the mood for.

If I'm looking for something different, Blue is good for the more inventive rolls and the such. I find their service to be horrible though- bad enough that I only get carryout from them now.

Hiro has more of a basic sushi menu, but I always find it to be fresh and prepared well. Service here is excellent.

I think Blue Sushi is one of the best, if not the best. For some reason the reception area of the restaurant always seems dingy to me, but the rest of it is modern and the sushi is fresh and inventive for the Midwest.
