Cajun Dining In New Orleans Help!?

Hello,

I am new here and figured I would start it off with a bang. We are having a Bachelor party for my Friend in New Orleans in August, and want to plan a couple of nice meals $35 - $40 Entre's.

I have never been to New Orleans and would greatly appreciate some suggestions on where to get some authentic cajun/creole cooking.

Thanks!

    Fr. Qtr.:
    K Paul's
    Antoine's
    Arnaud's
    Galatoire's
    Tujague's

    Warehouse/CBD:
    Bon Ton Cafe'
    Cuvee
    Cochon
    August

    Uptown:
    Pascal's Manale
    Brigtsen's
    Dick & Jenny's
    Patois
    Clancy's

depending on how many people you have, inquire about private rooms and house specialty drinks to make it unique. I read on another food board that someone planned a great Bachelor party at La Boca (though not Cajun/Creole, in the Warehouse District)

I agree, you were given a big list of places. For cajun style food go to Cochon, Jacques-Imo's, or K-Pauls. For high end creole, go to Galatoire's, Clancy's, Cuvee, Upperline, Commander's Palace or Arnaud's. For basic, un-fancy creole food, try Mandina's or Dick and Jenny's.
I would sample both so my suggestion would be Cochon for upscale casual, Galatoire's for dress up, and Jacques-Imos or Mandina's for shorts and tshirts.

If you were to pick one of the above which would it be? We will have about 10 or so guys.

We started off my friend's bachelor party at Cochon a couple of months back. It was a good time and the atmosphere was perfect - noisy and casual. I second that recommendation!

Thanks for the advise. We are going to Cochon and Jacques-Imos. Will get a review after I recover.
