For the Bronx/Brooklyn, you'll need to post on the OB board.

My favorites are the sour cream waffles at Balthazar, the oatmeal waffles with strawberry butter at Devin Tavern, the fresh and hot ones from the Wafels and Dinges truck, and the bacon waffles from Good Enough to Eat. EU has Belgian waffles but they are super super dense and sweet. Delicious but too much. The pumpkin ones from Sarabeth's are quite good too but on the healthy side. Amy Ruth's has great fried chicken and waffles.

Clinton St. Baking Co. had ones that I thought were only OK.

I'll second Veselka. I love the buckwheat waffles with fresh berries (usually on the menu, but officially a "special"). The fruit is a mixture blackberry, raspberry, & strawberry -- plus it comes with a tiny bottle of real maple syrup and whipped cream.

Agreed on the buckwheat waffle with berries (and some whipped cream). Also, the lemon ricotta pancake at Spotted Pig is excellent.
