Update report Larkin Express-Go Now

I just returned from a wonderful Burmese meal at Larkin Express in the Tenderloin. Three of us shared the rainbow salad, tea leaf salad (small), basa fish with tamarind sauce and steamed rice, and chicken noodle soup with coconut and crunchy fried split peas (small).
The 12 year old had a roast turkey sandwich that was made from a fresh roasted turkey breast. The owners brought out a sour brothy soup on the house when they saw how much we were enjoying our food.
Everything was delicious and seemed freshly prepared. There were no steam tables and dishes were brought out from the kitchen. Total cost was just was $27, and plenty of food for the three of us. This is one of the best deals for Burmese food in the city, and at a fraction of the cost compared to the more well known Burmese restaurants. Unfortunately we were the only table in the restaurant at 7pm on a Sat night.
Their new hours posted said the stay open only two nights a week- Friday and Saturday, until 8pm. I hope they can get more business in the evening to stay open. Chowhounds, help this mom and pop operation keep afloat! You won't regret it.

  1. I picked up an order of Chicken Biryani and Tea Leaf Salad to go on Friday night and the biryani was one of the best I've had outside of England and India.

CH's should know they also serve samosas and roti pratas, although they are not listed on the menu.

Had a bottle of Vietnamese beer (Saigon) with the samosas whilst waiting for the order.

To echo sfpizzalover, go now !
