Having a birthday - Solaris Grille?

I'm having a BIG birthday celebration and want to go to Chestnut Hill. I've been to Chestnut Hill Grille and Stella Blue looks nice, but Solaris looks like more fun. Anyone have some ideas and comments?

I have to agree that Solaris really doesn't have good food. Though, the location is great and they have a really nice outdoor patio.

I know its a chain, but have you considered the Melting Pot? That also has a great location, and its so much fun with a group.

I seriously thought i was alone in thinking that SOLARIS is TERRIBLE. love that chowers back me up on this...thought i was being too hard.

Could. Not. Agree. More. Solaris is always horrible. The question is, how do they stay in business? I don't know anyone who likes it.

Because it looks like it will be good and a great many people come in and walk around town for the day and give it a try. I've been there twice because out of towners walked by it and were sure they would really love it!

Do not go to Solaris Grille! The service is horrible and the food is not good either. I have been to Cake several times for brunch. It is very pretty inside and the food is good, although there are some service issues. I would still recommend it. Have had a very good frittata, smoked salmon bagel sandwich, and they have excellent tarts and other desserts.

No, No, No, No!!! I've been forced to run there for a quick lunch because it's close to work and it can be nice to sit outside, but the food is not good. I have tried to keep an open mind, repeatedly. It's pretty bad when the ceasar salad is not good. Chestnut Hill Grille has better food. The menu at Solaris appears better and they present specials that always sound like they have potential, but they never work out. I would not advise risking a birthday here.

I agree, Solaris seems like it will be good but is always really bad - what a strange phenomenon!

Has anyone tried the cafe/restauant at Robertson's Florists? I drove by, and it looks lovely, but who knows about the food? I'm told they have brunch?

You are referring to Cake. Great space dining in an ex-greenhouse. They are open for lunch and Sunday brunch. They serve dinner on Thursdays. I was there for brunch and had very good omlett. It is worth trying.

agreed...seems like a great idea and you'll never be so disappointed! take the train into the city...lots more options and no need for a DD
