Our family is headed down on another trip to Atlantus next month and we need help.

For the first time, we are staying in one of the condos at Mariners Village. One of the things I am most excited about is the kitchen in the condo. I agree with many of the previous posts regarding the quality/price of the food found at Atlantis.

45.00 dollars for a buffet that was cold and tasteless, never again!

Who can help me with grocery store options? I am willing to take a cab around the island if neccessary to find a good grocery where I can stock up.

One final note; we do love Atlantis, everything but the food. I For us, it's like an adult Disneyworld. Lots and lots of fun at the waterpark.

We recently booked in the same part of Atlantis. The travel agent told me that there is actually a shuttle that takes you right from the Marina to the closest grocery store. I believe she said it cost $4. per person. I am excited too! Have a great time.

On a side note there is great food to be found at Atlantis. Nobu is excellent. The Ocean Club at the One and Only resort next door is amazing. Decent snacks can be had by the pools (whole wheat wraps w/hummus and veggies, conch fritters). I haven't been since Bobby Flay opened up his place in the Cove, but I've heard it was great. Carmine's is also a rare bargain for Italian family style dining .

Thanks for the information momof3. We were there last year, before Nobu and Flay. Our children are young so I don't feel good about taking them to the Ocean Club. Am I wrong on that call?

Funny you spoke of Carmines. My kids all said that was the one restaurant they enjoyed. definently going back to that one.

It was the buffet joints and the psuedo-whitetablecloth places that we considered overpriced with sub-par food.

Yeah, I totally agree with you about the Ocean Club not being kid friendly. Maybe save that for a night you have an adults only night (if possible).
I went on an all girls vacation last year and did get to enjoy the "grown-up" food. Nobu has been there for a while, it's in the casino and also isn't very kid friendly.
I am going this fall with the whole family and it sounds like we are going to have similar challenges. I completely agree with you about the sub-par bufetts. That is one of the reasons we rationalized paying the extra money for the villas. With a full kitchen we will actually spend a lot less. I am figuring breakfast and lunch in the room, dinners out.

Hi there, not sure if you already have been here or not, but here it goes. I am an expat living here in the Bahamas, Paradise Island to be exact. For groceries, take a taxi to Harbour Bay shopping plaza. There is a City Market there which is just like a US grocery store, only much more expensive. In the plaza too there is a liquor store with cheaper prices on beer and wine than in the stores on PI. The taxi cab will tell you that they should wait for you, but it is really easy to get another cab for the way back. The trip there is $10 - 12, make sure they don't rip you off for more and the way back is $12 - 14 plus the $1 for the toll.

I hope you enjoy your stay and I agree, I wish there was better food offerings to be had...it's so hard to pay so much money for mediorce food and bad service!
