    1. the only answer is Andy Nelson's in Cockeysville, MD, though I'm sure there are plenty of people here who would disagree as much as agree with me

Well I agree with you. Andy's is the best.

Yes, Andy Nelson's. I've used them three times for catered dinners for around 20 people and they are consistently great. Their prices are also really reasonable.

            2. Red Hot & Blue does good catering.
The really serious BBQ folks are never happy so you can send them over to one corner to argue about the relative merits of their favorite places.
The majority of people will be perfectly content with it.
RH&B is efficient, well-priced and always does a great job,

I've never had RH+B but they did send a proper smoker to a neighbor's event a while back. it smelled good. (I prefer my own, thank you).

and yes, we can argue the definition of barbecue as long as we can argue the definition of chili.

and none of it will ever be as good as yours. or mine. or whoever has just served me a plate.

                    1. re: hill food

Arguing over it is half the fun.
I'll happily eat most (repeat most) of it. Some doesn't make me so very happy. Every now and then, it's downright sad.

                    2. I'm not a huge Rockland's fan, but I do know that they cater. Perhaps someone has been to an event catered by them and can voice an opinion. Their food is decent, don't be scared, it's just that I'm still searching for someone to mimic what I used to have in North Carolina!

                        1. re: katecm

I was at an event catered by Rocklands. The people hosting the "barbecue" had some serious money so I'm sure they had their pick of caterers. The food was excellent, especially the baked beans, chicken, and the dessert tray.
