Bath, NC - Both restaurants closed Mondays

We will be staying in Bath Monday and the innkeepers told us the two restaurants in town are closed. Does anyone know of a place enroute from Raleigh to Bath where we could pick up an interesting picnic dinner to eat at our inn that evening? We love good bread, cheese, desserts, fruit, fried chicken, (no bbq)........and will bring our own wine. TIA for any ideas!

Stop by Bum's in Ayden, NC (just south of Greenville and not too too far off your most likely route). They have some of the best fried chicken I've ever had, and definitely the best collards and rutabagas. All of the veggies are available to-go in pints or even quarts.

Thank so much. That sounds perfect even if this 100% Carolina Girl has never tried a collard.......... Too many years of smelling them cook all day on Grandma's stove............. : )

King Chicken in Washington has excellent fried chicken.

Try Fish Hooks in Belhaven, NC. Although they may be closed as well. This is a quiet end of the world. I'm surprised to see any blog thread on this area!
