Breakfast btwn Stamford and the city?

Hello Chowhounders,
I would love some suggestions for a breakfast place between Stamford, CT and NYC. I will be taking the drive early in the morning with my uncle (a self proclaimed foodie) and would love to stop somewhere that serves great, homemade, interesting food at a great price. Surprisingly enough, we both love the dive atmosphere with surprising food finds. Neither of us have a specific breakfast schedule, so anywhere in between is fine, be it close to Stamford or just outside nyc proper. Thanks to all for the help, it is much appreciated!
