What's up at 29 & Gallows (Fairfax)?

Meg Jul 10, 2008 08:49 AM

The whole, new strip mall where Dad's was is now completely empty. Z pizza, Pilin Thai, Caribou Coffee...all gone. As is the neighboring Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and now the Bank of America. Looks like the whole corner is going to be wiped. Anyone know what's going in? My pipe dream is for some good, non-chain restaurants.

The county is widening Gallows between Dunn Loring and 50. It is part of the Merrifield town center development effort.

This new place certainly looks promising!

I saw that and plan to head that way. Does anyone know where is it, though? There are too many new streets/buildings in that area. Is it where the XSports and new condos are? Is there parking in that area or do you use the movie theater parking?

When I was poking around there a couple of months back, I think I saw a sign on a window along the strip where Noodles is, announcing a bakery. That may be the place that was written up in the Post this week.

There's a sort of inconvenient (you can't get there from here) outdoor free parking lot on what I'd call the back side of that building (the Noodles side, opposite the Gallows Rd side) and I'd suggest that you park there and walk around. You won't be more than a block or so from it wherever it is, and the exercise will do you good after having something fattening from the bakery.

Seems like all the addresses are on Strawberry Lane, probably because it sounds more appetizing than Gallows Road, so you can't tell from the address.
