Center City Sips Recommendations?

wombat2208 Jul 9, 2008 07:09 AM

Does anyone have any good recommendations for Center City Sips locations? My girlfriend and I are looking for somewhere that might offer more unique appetizers as part of the promotion. I've looked at the website, but a lot of locations say weekly special, or chef's choice. We like all types of food, and the closer to city hall the better (we both work within a block), but we're not opposed to walking farther. Thanks!

Everytime I have tried to go, you need to stand in a line 3 deep to even order a drink at the bar. Even Susanna Foo was packed! Normally, during Center City Sips I take advantage of the non-participating bars because they are more quiet than ever.

Agreed. I remember going a couple of years ago, and it wasn't too bad, but now it's just impossible. The crowds are enormous and the savings is far too minimal.

The little secret that doesn't get told is that a lot of bars (especially ones right off Center City proper) are now doing Sips-style specials without participating in the actual event. I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I've encountered this phenomenon a few times already as, like saturninus, I take advantage of the non-participating bars on summer Wednesdays.

Well, for next time I recommend Davios. Sips is fun! Not all restaurants make you wait at the bar...lots of them have tables reserved in their dining room. Plus, it's good to see the crowds out on a Wednesday. Have fun! :)
