dinner with a group on Nantucket

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could advise me on a few good restaurants on Nantucket to dine at with a group of 10 on a summer weekend. I am looking for one casual, less expensive place and another slightly more upscale place. I have been to The Lobster Trap, Black Eyed Susan's and Bluefin(which I think closed), all of which I enjoyed and would consider revisiting.

Any recent reviews of the Westender and Centre St. Bistro would be appreciated. Thanks!

  1. Straight Wharf Bar might be a good choice for casual less expensive. You can't go wrong with the menu, and the kitchen does a great job. The tables outside offer views of the boats and wharf activity. The bar doesn't get crowded with drinkers until after 9.
Maybe consider The Company of the Cauldron for (slightly) upscale? Their private table out back is fun, private and incredibly cool. I've never had a bad meal there. Waitstaff is topnotch which I think is important when paying ACK prices.
Bluefin is closed, and I'd give a pass to the new restaurant (2nd year in operation) Lola 41. It's a $17/drink kind of place where food isn't anything special and attitude is served nightly. It's the place to go if you're looking for a scene, though.
The restaurant at the Jetties is also in their 2nd year.Hugely popular, a nice walk from town. I often go for a beer with friends, especially if the weather is hot/humid. Very casual, shorts are okay, and you can go for a swim before having a cold one! We usually wind up eating, food is decent enough, limited to pasta, pizza, salad and lobster/shellfish. Nothing to write home about. Great place to meet for early evening casual drinks. Live music sometimes, too.
Haven't heard anything about the Westender so I can't offer an opinion.
Center Street Bistro is still serving excellent food, but 10 people might overwhelm the small dining room. Maybe you could snag a few tables outside?

Thank you! I appreciate all the tips. May do a late dinner in the dining room one night at Straight Wharf and do a drink before hand at the White Elephant.

    2. How about the Brotherhood of Thieves for casual?
