Best New Chefs list
Any chefs particularly snubbed by Food & Wine's 2008 Best New Chef's list??
Dunno how anyone can be snubbed by that in the sense that, well, they're "new" so usually no one's ever heard of them prior to being on the list.
In fact, at first, just the opposite ...... I was initially annoyed to see Michael Psilakis listed. Why? By the time he was on there, he had three or four NYC restaurants and to me the whole idea -- as the name says -- is Best NEW Chefs .... However I then read in the fine print something about they could be head chefs and owners for as long as but no longer than five years. So that's how he could be there listed as new. Ok.
Still, wow, in under five years and four restaurants? All in Manhatten? And partners with restaurateur Donatella Arpaia?! Talk about one super fast rise! I think it's previously unheard of to that extent that fast.
