Dinner before Dirty Dancing

gazpacho Jul 8, 2008 12:37 PM

I have read several posts that have recommended staying away from the more "touristy" eating places in the theater district. We are staying at the Residence Inn on Wellington and the show is at the Royal Alexandra. We'd like to walk to a restaurant and then to the show. We love all kinds of food so we're open to many suggestions--Help me Toronto 'hounds!

I say spend the extra 5 on a cab or walk if it is a nice evening and go to Jaime Kennedy Wine Bar. Great food and service!

My usual suggestion for this subject: La Fenice

Quite good Italian. Miles above everything else in that King West strip.

Crush. About a 10-minute walk from the hotel and another 10 back to the theatre.

Although there are many eateries in the neighbourhood, most are very tourist-oriented (ie few Torontonians would eat there).

          or Le Select (same distance):

          mainstream French bistro, nice ambiance

Crush definitely looks like a contender. When I went to the site it said that it had been closed but has reopened?? was that for renovations?

There's a Radisson on Wellington? Not according to http://www.radisson.com/hotels/ca/on/...

          And what's your budget?

oops! I meant The Residence Inn on Wellington! Budget is open--we're willing to pay for good food :-) and of course we love it when we find good places that aren't sky high!

I am fond of Tutti Matti - www.tuttimatti.ca - just a few blocks from your hotel, at Adelaide and Peter.
