Canoe - Summerlicious 2008 Menu

Has anyone been to Canoe for this years Summerlicious? Everything sounds amazing, but I want to hear someone else's opinions if they've tasted anything from this years menu!

  1. I have never had a bad meal there. They have been around all these years and you are getting the food at a discount. Whats your real question :)

haha well I guess I was hoping to get someone who went there and tried a few things on the menu to tell me what was realllllly good out of the choices, but I am sure that I'll be pleased no matter what when I go in a few hours :D

yum yum yummy! I liked the atmosphere and the weather was great so we had a wonderful view - you could even see Mississauga!
I had the Twice Baked Goat Cheese Soufflé, mmm and Ontario lamb and the lemon tart. I also had some of my friends chocolate cake, they were both good but if I went again I'd get the lemon tart because it just melted in my mouth :)
          I'll post some pictures!

            went for lunch on Thurs.

Both had salad and fish. Lemon tart for desert.
As usual stunning service, stellar view and food done to perfection.
            Full sized portions.
            They do summerl properly

    2. Had Lunch on July 9th. Impressive portions - though mediocre ingredients. Great deal for the price. I started with the Shrimp & Mascarpone Pate. Guests had the Wild Leek & Potato Soup. Soup had an interesting grainy texture, and I found the chunks of shrimp to be pleasing in the pate. For mains, we tried Breast of Capon and the Wild White Bass. The Capon was strong, though the skin was a bit soggy - perhaps it was waiting to be delivered to the tables for a bit longer than planned. The bass was excellent and cooked to perfection (not too overdone). The desserts were both strong. I preferred the Caramelized Meyer Lemon Tart with Basil Meringue myself, but both my guests preferred the Soma Chocolate Truffle Cake. Both are excellent choices (it depends on what tastes you prefer).

A strong Summerlicious entry, as always, from Canoe. Did not disappoint and even rose higher than my expectations for this food event! Cudos to them for setting a good example with portion size, presentation, complexity of tastes and deftness of execution (a la minute cooking!). However, as a fan of their regular menu, I would suggest that those impressed by the liciious events head back during regular hours, as those meals are far superior! Alas, the prices are bit out of reach for a regular endeavour...
