Friday wedding lunch in Pac. Grove/Monterey/Carmel

A friend is in desperate need of a wedding lunch plan for this Friday, preferably in Pacific Grove, although Montery and Carmel are also ok. It's very last minute, but so was the relocation of the wedding due to evacuation of the original site.

There will be 13 people in dress ranging from suits to business casual. They want something very nice but not over-the-top expensive. Type of food is not as important as a good place that's appropriate for this type of occasion.

Any suggestions?

    1. Maybe not fancy enough, but the clubhouse restaurant at the PG public golf course is managed by the folks owning The Red House. Nice views and usually not very busy when I have been there. Food not spectacularly innovative, but good soups, salads, sandwiches. Can't remember the name though.

      Good Luck!

Ed and Jon, I think this is it...

Decided to register & jump in. Hi, I'm the bride!

This is actually for our "reception," (aka "take everyone to a nice lunch") which we had originally planned @ Nepenthe, to give you an idea of the fanciness quotient we're looking for. In other words, Point Pinos Grill is probably a bit too casual, but someplace like Citronelle is too much.

We want something not particularly touristy/loud, with a selection of actual entrees ($20-$35 per) as opposed to just sandwiches etc. We'd appreciate a wine list of *some* sort.

The problem appears to be that the places that appeal to us seem to only be open for dinner -- for example, Passionfish.

Hope this helps everyone; I so appreciate any help at all. Stupid #@$! fires.

Maybe some of the locals could help you out here, but Tarpy's Roadhouse gets good reviews. Check out their site, it's an interesting looking place.

Stokes Adobe might fit the bill.

I am also thinking of places open that would have enough room and vacant tables. I think Stokes is a bit nicer than Tarpy's.

Stokes looks lovely... but it's only open for dinner. Alas.

Too bad about Stokes. They used to be open for lunch.

What about Taste or Fifi's? I've heard that Taste is open again for lunch and has a fair amount of space inside - if a very small parking lot (I usually park in the Safeway lot across the street).

                              1. Haven't been for a while, but are Roy's prices over the top in Spanish Bay?

                                  1. Casanova in Carmel might work for you. Nice ambiance and food. They also have a number of different rooms so you could probably have some privacy.
