Lolita Monday nite BBQ

Received an email from Lolita advertising their Monday night BBQ July 7th -- so we went last night. The first course was barbecued beef shortrib with a chile-brown sugar rub, tamarind bbq sauce and a green onion peanut salsa. This was really delicious and huge - almost a meal in itself.

For the main course there were 4 dishes, mamacita's spicy beef and black bean chili; tacos al carbon (grilled spice rubbed skirt steak served with homemade corn torillas and guacamole; sabana (sheets of beef tenderloin); and alambre mexicano (chipotle bbq'd hangar steak, shrimp and serrano skewers. All this was accompanied by grilled corn on the cob, buttermilk cabbage-jicama slaw and cornbread. Everything was delicious but there was much too much food.

Dessert was tres leches de chocolate, which was also terrific.

All the above for $35 plus $5 for a half-pitcher of marguerita mix.

If they're going to be having a Monday nite BBQ all summer, with different meats featured each week (yesterday was "beef, beef, beef (moo)", then this is a great deal to be checked out by fellow hounds on future Mondays!

That sounds unbelievable. "Barbecued beef shortrib with a chile-brown sugar rub, tamarind bbq sauce and a green onion peanut salsa". Wow- need to get to the city on a Monday!
