dinner after travelling

  • 3

My wife and I are arriving in town next Tuesday, July, 15 and will be there 3 nights. We have dinner planned for us Wed & Thurs but would like reccomendations for Tuesday night. We are staying at the Mandarin Oriental and truly enjoy everything from wings to white table cloth. Last time we were in town we stayed at the J W Marriott and enjoyed the mainstays of Occidental and Old Ebbits however this time I don't need to repeat since I know that there are many more options to chose from. BTW... Wed we are having crabs somewhere with locals and I don't remember where we are scheduled for on Thurs.

Thank you for your suggestions.

  1. Located right in your hotel is one of the best restaurants in the city, CityZen. The chef, Eric Ziebold, recently won the James Beard award for best chef in the Mid-Atlantic. This would be my first choice, assuming you're not too tired from travelling to enjoy this fine dining experience.

That's a great recommendation. If you want something a little more low-key after your travels, you aren't terribly far from the Willard, which now has a lovely bistro, Cafe du Parc. It has outdoor seating, so if you've been pent up in a plane or car, you can get some fresh air. If you've been to the Occidental, you have probably been to the Willard, but if not, make sure to get to the Round Robin Bar for a drink.

Thanks, we had a great time at the Round Robin last time and ended up meeting people who took us out andshowed us the local scene in greater depth. I think I may lean more towards the casualness of the Willard after the plane, etc.
