judy -- your post is very timely for me as I'm just beginning the process of investigating the same thing for my wife's 40th (but I'm hoping that my group will be a bit smaller ... about 25 people). Someone suggested Teak in Red Bank. Their website has info for private parties and here's a link to the dinner menu page ... http://teakrestaurant.com/pages/pdf/O...
A bit more than I was hoping to spend at $70/person paying for drinks by consumption or $100 with alcohol included. I was going to post a similar inquiry looking for BYOBs, but I'll be interested in any responses you get. Good luck.

Hey, jsfein,
Would you consider Turkish cuisine? If so, check out Marmara. Acc. to their website, they can do either a buffet for $35pp or a sit-down for $40pp. I think you've been there, so you know the food's good, and the atmospherics are nice. One of the two dining spaces would accommodate a party of 25.

Or how about Drew's? I'm sure he would work with you to arrange a menu in line with your budget.
Both of these places are BYO. If you prefer a place with a liquor license, of course, they wouldn't be good options.
Best wishes in advance to Mrs. jsf.

re: RGR
Thanks for the info, RGR. I have been to Marmara and am in the minority around here as I had a subpar experience. Admittedly, it was just one visit and I may have caught them an on off night. Drew's is an excellent idea. Can Drew accommodate a private party? I've only been there once and don't have a good recollection of his layout.
Thanks for the best wishes to the Mrs.

Hey, jsfein,
Sorry to hear your experience at Marmara was disappointing, Truth be told, we've only been there once for lunch shortly after they opened. The food we had was fine though there were some service issues, which I chalked up to the fact that they were brandy new.
With regard to Drew's, there are two dining rooms, and I've been there when there was a private party going on in the back room. I'm almost positive that room can accommodate 25 people. If you are fine with bringing in your own alcoholic refreshments, I think having your wife's party there would be great fun.
