Second Time Around - AB/Greece

Watched Anthony Bourdain do Greece again tonight. Hated it the first time I saw it. I guess I was stressed over him ignoring the Aegean for the Adriatic, and my mood made the whole program seem as dark.
Tonight I rather enjoyed the show. Sat here salivating over the sea urchin, jealous of the great taste of Greek lamb, yet pitying him that in the entire course of the show he never had one drop of retsina or ouzo, let alone a glass of Mavro Daphne. Poor baby!
I forget the dear old teddy bear's name who was his guide through the show, but he did utter a brilliantly insightful line. Something to the effect that you cannot get real Greek food on 42nd Street in NYC. And that's true. I've said it on these boards before; When a Greek gets aboard any sort of craft to emigrate to this country, his or her ability to cook truly Greek tasting food seems to vanish when they get about 5,000 meters from the Greek shore line. Maybe next trip Bourdain will try some moussaka and stop calling it a "brick." Greek food in Greece is an epiphany!
