Best Lobster Dinner

Psiweaver Jul 6, 2008 11:12 AM

I did a search but couldn't find anything that recent. I'm thinking Providence would probably be on the list. I'm looking for the absolute best preparation of Lobster. I'd prefer Maine but if there is someplace that has spiny or something similar that is absolutely can't miss I wan to hear about it. Price is not really an issue for this meal going for absolute quality over anything else. I'd prefer it to be on the westside but am willing to travel. Thanks for the help in advance.

The Palm's special is great, esp if you're like me and love the claws and have someone else (mom) that likes the tail... great to share and a great meal for two.

Also, for a classic no frills steamed lobster and head of broccoli (and/or potato incarnation), and a wedge salad, I really like Ruth's Chris. The lobsters are consistently cooked and service good for that type of ambience and meal.

The best bargains are still in Chinatown at the Hop Li. About 11 dollars per pound. They will steam it for you and serve it with drawn butter. They very often have three or four pounders. Personally I like mine in the ginger and green onion sauce. It still is fresh lobster and a far better value than the Palm. If doing the in scene is your thing then definitely do the Palm.

My daughter likes steamed lobster with butter and Chinese restaurants are the way to go ($). Steamed lobster with butter seems so boring when you can have it cooked many more flavorful ways in a Chinese restaurant and a bargain for what you can get. May Flower has a darned good "house special" lobster made with garlic and chili for like $12.99. 1 lb lobsters......but you can order one for everyone.

What about puerto nuevo style with the tortilla's and a good margarita? Your suggestions are great thanks so much for the help.

Go to Puerto Nuevo and be sure to duck while going through TJ. I have never found a place that can rival Puerto Nuevo except maybe for one or two places in Rosarita if you want to shorten the drive a bit.
