Mr. Millygirl and I are thinking about booking a 2 night stay at Sir Sam's. Never been and don't know much about it other than it looks quite nice. Just wondering if anyone has been and if the food is any good? Many thanks CH'ers.

I grew up in Haliburton, and its a great little spot.....
I'm not sure about the food anymore, I know it used to be pretty good.
But down the road there is a new place called Rhubarb and it seems to be getting good reviews.
There is a thread on it....(Rhubarb that is)
I recommend going up there.....it is defenitely a beautiful place to be
    makes me miss home :(

I went 3 years ago this September. I have to confess that I don't have a strong recollection of the food, so I suspect that it wasn't super-extraordinary. However, I certainly don't recall it being bad in any way. I think it was probably quite good but not life-altering (sorry I can't be more specific).

The resort itself is in a lovely setting, though I found the room to be a bit generic (balcony overlooking the lake was great though).

Here's the thread on Rhubarb. Looks like it's worth checking out.

Millygirl, I would love it if you would let us know how you liked the resort and, if you tried the onsite restaurant, how you found the food. I am thinking of taking my SO to Sir Sam's in the fall for a special birthday weekend.

My wife and I stayed there a couple of years ago. The food was OK, nothing to rave about. As for the resort, we quite enjoyed it, particularly the aqua-spa. Have a great time. We're actually going back in a couple of weeks and doing the Haliburton Canopy tour. You really should consider doing this tour when you go. (My apologies to fellow CH'ers for this slight, non-food diversion :))
