just back 2 nights in wash/hook& Corduroy
Hi- first of all thanks so much for all the great advice and help with restaurants and the fireworks. We had a grat dinner at corduroy. The place is beautiful, the service was lovely, the presentation was grat and the fodd was very, very good. We shared the soft shell app and then i had scallops an my husband had tuna. The second night was Hook and sorry to say we were very underwhelmed. The place looks great and the help was very nice but the food seemed to have more attitude than substance. Just nothing that great- zero interst in going back or recommending it...it was mobbed so I'm guessing we in the minority but...Thanks again for everything
I too am not a hook fan. I tried it at what was suppossed to be its height, but had the EXACT same reaction you did: nothing that great, more attitude than substance (especially with the big pushy-pushy hard sell on prosecco).
Just like you, I have had zero interest in going back or recommending it. This persists, despite the sense I get that I am in the distinct minority.
Thanks for reporting back - I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed at least one of your meals. Corduroy really is top notch!
Hook, on the other hand, is in the process of a semi-messy break with Barton Seaver, head chef (not an excuse, just a possible explanation for your experience). That said, people seem to be confident in the ability of Hook's kitchen corps to work their way through this rough patch. Several months back I had a fantastic meal, but more recent ventures have been less than spectacular. Here's to hoping they can get things straightened out!
