Lid didn't pop...help!

I opened a new jar of chopped garlic to put in some salad dressing and the lid didn't make a pop sound. Now I am worried I am going to make everyone who eats my salad sick...should I start over with a fresh batch of dressing?

Thanks!

  1. yes, probably. did it feel sealed when you opened it. was it commercially prepared or was it your own canning? was the lid bulged?

    1. commercial garlic, with a safety seal around it, plastic.

      no the lid wasn't bulging

It's probably ok then. I don't always get the pop sound. But if the lid bulges, toss it.
