Sharp Provolone

Lettucepray Jul 4, 2008 08:32 PM

I am in search of sliced sharp provolone...having a problem finding it in Manhattan.
Every deli / store says their's is SHARP but it isn't. Too mild.
Any fellow Chowhounds out there have recommendations?

I will travel anywhere in Manhattan.

How did it go? Were you happy with the sharpness at FD? Or have you found something better?

I'd recommend trying DiPalo, if the poster hasn't found it yet.

Fairway carries it in the deli at both Manhattan locations, I believe.

A few years ago I ordered one of these from Fresh Direct - I found it to be sharper than most:

Not really a shop or a deli, but they have Provolone Piccante at 'inoteca.
