Annapolis Royal to Wolfville NS: looking for Kamut Bread
We will be travelling from Annapolis Royal through to Parrsboro and Joggins in the first two weeks of August. One of our children is sensitive to wheat and wheat bran but not to gluten. The kamut and spelt breads we buy for him dry out rapidly and we store them in the freezer, using a slice or piece as required. Although we found mention of one baker who sells at a local market in the Wolfville area, there is no guarantee that we will be near the market on market day. Does anyone know of a bakery or health food store anywhere in that stretch of Nova Scotia which is likely to sell kamut or spelt bread?

The Kiwi Cafe, Chester carries LaHave bakery spelt bread, deliveries at this time of year are on Tuesdays and Fridays. We serve spelt bread for any of our meals, eg soups, breakfast or our paninis etc can be made with spelt bread. We have some gluten free baked goods made with brown rice flour and oatcakes made with the spelt flour also.

There are a few health food stores in the Valley (I believe there's one in Annapolis Royal) which should carry at least spelt. I've seen kamut loaves from Julian's (based in Chester, but delivered province-wide), but it was a seasonal item.
There's a new bakery in New Minas (outside Wolfville) I haven't tried, but they seem to bake a wide variety of breads, but I don't see kamut listed on their website (sarajbakery dot com). They do say they'll be happy to accommodate any dietary-specific needs by request.
