Where to buy Pork Shoulders...Balto

Neighbor and I are interested in smoking some shoulders this weekend. What are suggestions for best place to find whole shoulders....Lexington Mkt?

  1. I get them at H Mart in Catonsville. They're very reasonably priced as well.

    1. I got one recently at Springfield Farms, but you'd have to call as they're not always in stock. I also just found out that they come down to the city now! At the new market at Harbor East.

Also, the new addition to the Sunday Farmer's market, Truck Patch Farms, carries all sorts of pork, so they might have it. I think if you call them, they'll bring it to the market for you.

      1. I have gotten them at Shoppers Food Warehouse, Catonsville and Parkville.

Most Harris Teeter stores carry them, if you have one of those around.

Plus, they (Shoppers) have them advertised at 99 cents per pound. I was going to run out this morning to get a couple.

We bought them at the Shoppers in Timonium for .99/lb.......we slow smoked 2 and added NC-type vinegar and pepper based sauce. Very, very good...close to Andy Nelson recipe! Figured for the $14 we spent on them that we had enough pulled pork for 10-12 people. Not bad!!!

I just saw this thread and was about to reply about the Shoppers sale. I also picked up a picnic shoulder there and smoked it. I prefer a butt over a picnic shoulder, but for the price I sure can't complain. And it came out fantastic. Hopefully they'll be repeating that sale all summer long!
