Desparate for a recommendation on South Shore LI

Looking for a nice place with a water view. We'll be staying in Farmingdale (I know no water views there, but somewhere with a 1/2 hour drive) We'll hit Robert Moses in the morning. Could possibly travel out to Fire Island. Somewhere in those areas.

The outstanding Lake House in Bay Shore has water but it is lake water not ocean water.

and definitely not a place you could walk into after going to the beach all day. need to dress and need a reservation. the chef is a family friend and is a fabulous cook, so if you want to make a reservation and clean yourselves up, this is a great rec...but again on a lake..not the bay.

If Fire Island. Hit the Mermaid for dinner

Fat Fish in Bay Shore has wonderful water views, but like so many of its ilk, the food is mediocre.

Mill Pond House in Centerport looks out on an inlet of the LI Sound.Better than average food with prices to match.

Prime in Huntington is right on Huntington Harbor. Mostly prime steaks now after opening with a very good French accented American menu.

Nickys clam bar in Bayshore right on the water, good service and good food and live music

oh yes. Nicky's is your place! Anything fried, steamers, salad, garlic bread, seafood bisque. YUM !
