Restaurants near Staples Center

New England Hound here. I'll be visiting in a few weeks and will be staying at a hotel near the Staples Center. Any ideas on a good restaurant in that area. I will be taking my 23 yr old daughter and her boyfriend to dinner. Cost is not a big issue but it doesn't have to be super fancy. I'm more of a foodie than they are but I'm willing to compromise and go to a nice Italian or steak place with fun (but not too loud) ambience where we can relax and catch up. Thanks for any suggestions.

  1. Blue Velvet is nearby. If you get a table in the back room, it should be quieter than the main room. I went over a year ago, after it opened, and was very impressed with the food and service. I don't know if they have maintained this quality, check out some reviews.

    1. The Palm would be perfect. Right across the street from Staples.

      1. Zucca (Italian) or Tranquility Base (small plates) would both be good choices.

There's a Morton's steakhouse about 2 blocks north of Staples as well.

        1. For steak and fish, there's Nick and Stef's.

          1. Tiara Cafe, 127 E. 9th St. -- in the first block east of Main. Small plates, terrific food, good beers, wine by the glass. Here's a link to the Chowhound page with my mini-review: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/478349
