Yianni's on Whyte still good value

We had lunch at Yianni's on Whyte following the Canada Parade yesterday. It may not be as good as it once was, but it is still a great value. We shared the chicken souvlaki, hummus and pita and the fried cheese. It was too much food for two people and the bill was $23.50.

The souvlaki came with tsatziki, rice, lemon roasted potatoes and a few carrots and yellow beans. It was huge for $16. The fried cheese was so good. It is one of those simple dishes that just rocks.

My only complaints: the water was room temp and on a hot day, I would have loved ice water and the pita was not homemade. But I can not complain given the price, the decor and the service.

The sad thing was that it was about half empty when we got there and next door at Julio's there was a long line-up. I can not stand Julio's it is awful and terribly pricey. How it grew into a chain is beyond me.
