The Blue Nile in the City Market is on my (very long) list of places to try. I believe the vegetarian dishes are the real stars. If memory serves me - I think they have a sampler platter that is suppose to be a good deal.
My lunch gals have been stuck in a Grinders/Brick/Jack's Stack loop. I think I finally have them talked in to Blanc Burgers. It will be awhile before I can convince them to try Ethiopan.

I would go with the Blue Nile sampler platter, too. Keep in mind that you need to have a friend or two to clean it up! The staff was friendly and helpful, so definitely ask for recommendations.

Your best bet is to make some Ethiopian friends and eat at their place. Kc doesn't have a large enough Ethiopian population to have competitive Ethiopian restaurants. However is does have a very large Mexican population and i've just caught wind of a lady that sells Menudo out of her place on weekends in KC, KS. apparently there is a line out the door in the every morning. Its called La Soledad i cant find it on any directory but i have a mexican friend who is going to show me the way.

This isn't quite the same thing, but I thought you might be interested in this article about a Somali kitchen and restaurant. It sounds like a lot of the meal elements are the same as/similar to Ethiopian cooking.
