Having a party and on a budget. Need a good bakery for a inexpensive cake.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend any bakery in Arlington for cakes. They are either expensive and not good or inexpensive and not good. You will do better at the supermarket or Costco.

Let me add my two cents worth in favor of Heidelberg Pastry Shopped. They have a strawberry mousse cake that my family loves. Ditto Black Forest Cake (chocolate and cherry). They have several other cakes that look good but I've never tried them because my family always insists on one of our two favorites.

i can recommend heidelberg (did my wedding cake) and pastries by randolph (good cakes, and awesome almond nut coffee cake ring with marzipan; best croissants).

heidelberg is on lee hwy west of glebe; pbr is on old lee hwy (just off lee hwy) east of glebe (next to arrowine, near where lorcom lane intersects lee hwy, and leb taverna market). bakeries are maybe 2 miles apart.

And just FYI, I know there are haters but Cakelove is in Shirlington and can be fairly affordable depending on the cake size.

Pastries by Randolph is another pretty good one. It's right near the mentioned Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe too.

I second Randolph pastries, their fruit filled cakes, or they have a chocolate one with like chocolate shavings all over it that is really good too.
