Sunday Brunch at Burke's in Yonkers

I was craving a nice brunch this past Sunday and my GF lives right around the corner from Burke's. Now the last two times I've been there I haven't loved the food, and one time at night didn't love the attitude of the bartender, but was willing to give it a try for convenience. Got there a little before one and I had the steak and eggs and she got the blueberry pancakes. Our waitress, I wish I could remember he rname, was awesome. The service was very good and we were not rushed whatsoever. I got my steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. I believe it was a 10oz strip and the eggs were ordered over easy. They were slightly over cooked but this actually worked out, because I overlooked the fact that toast wasn't included, although home fries were. While I'm starting to realize that no place other than streakhouses realizes the importance of salting beef before cooking, this wasn't a big deal, because the steak had enough fat to give it a nice flavor. A little salt and pepper on everything and I was in business. Washed it down with three Bloody Mary's, that were neither too strong or two hot, but perfect to get the day going.

Mine was gone rather quickly, and while I soaked up every last bit of goodness with the bread that was put on the table before the meal, i had to try my gf's pancakes. They were made with conrmeal I believe and were very thick. Exceptional taste. I only had two bites, but they might be my choice next time. Serrved with fruit on the side and some powdered sugar, this was definitely a hit.

After this nice brunch, I'm ready to give it another dinner try.

Don't often get to Yonkers but will have to take a road trip. Burke's sounds great.
To other Yonkers CH'ers, has any one been to X2O for brunch--or even lunch, dinner?
We've been to Xaviar's and Freelance - both were great but it's a haul to go over the bridge to get there.
Would love to get others' opinions.

I have yet to go to X20 but I've heard it is incredible. I know people who have gone for brunch, lunch and dinner and have yet to hear a negative comment.

Went to Burke's again for a simple lunch. Got a turkey club that was pretty big. Lots of yummy crisp wedge fries with it. Nothing special but a very delicious sandwich.

I live near by as well and go often for dinner and/or drinks. Just went a couple weeks back for brunch and was very impressed. I got the french toast and it was great. The Irish Coffee was so good that we had three (between the two of us). Our server's name was Sophia, I think, and she was awesome.
If I had been a bit more hungry that morning I would have gone for the root beer glazed pork, which sounds sooooo good. I've had their pork medallions for dinner and they were excellent.

From the Bronx River going south, get off at the Mile Square Road exit and make a right. It's about 1/4 of a mile down the road. Can't miss it. 645 Bronx River Road

just for clarification, I believe that the exit off of the Bronx River Parkway is labeled Bronx River Road, Mount Vernon/Yonkers.
