Check out Shikago on LaSalle and cab it to the show.

You're going to have to cab it unless you know the bus system anyway.

Try Westend. It's around Racine and Madison down the street from the UC. It's bar food done pretty well with some nice seafood selections on their special card from time to time. they also have a free shuttle to the UC for events. Call ahead to make sure.

It's not as close as the places on Randolph Street, but for what it's worth my buddies and I usually go to Club Lucky (1824 W Wabansia) before a Hawks or Bulls game, and then hop on Damen Ave straight down to the United Center.

It's sort of helpful if you have an idea of what kind of food you are looking for and pricepoint. I live in the area and quite a few places even offer transportation to and from the UC.

We often go to Bella Note on W Grand for very good Italian--big round tables upstairs for larger groups. Great hand-made square noodles.

There are a number of very good places on Randolph Street, which is a five minute drive from the United Center. Depending on what you want, Marche, Red Light or Vivo might be fun for 8 people.
