laid-back eats in downtown SF/along BART?
I'm arriving in SF around 8pm on a Friday and will be using BART to get around. The people I'm visiting are having dinner at Ducca at 6:45, so I'm sure they won't be done by the time my flight lands (or, for that matter, until 10pmish probably).
I'd prefer something casual, since I'll be traveling straight from my office after work and will be on central time -- somewhere where I can relax, read a book and eat my meal is choice. I'll have my bags with me still, so proximity to BART is key and I'd prefer not to have to make a ton of transfers. Something down-town-ish (ie somewhat close to Ducca) is also preferred, so that the visit-ees don't have to drive cross-town to fetch me.
In terms of food, I'm not a huge meat eater but I'm fairly adventerous. Price is not an object, but I'll be wearing jeans.
thanks in advance for helping this midwestern girl out!
Easiest thing might be just eating at the bar at Ducca.
Sens is about two blocks from the west end of Embarcadero BART. There's free parking with validation so that would make pickup easy.
If your flight is due in at 8, note that between delays (standard at SFO), waiting for baggage, getting from your arrival terminal to the SFO BART station, waiting for a train (up to 15 minutes), and the ride (30 minutes), you may not get to downtown SF much before 10.
re: Robert Lauriston
just to clarify what Robert said, in case you think it is an issue: you will be fine in Ducca in jeans. I'd agree with the Ducca recommendation (and hope you report back, as I'd like to hear more reports!). The dining room is open till 10:30 p.m., bar until 12:30 p.m., though it isn't clear how late they serve bar snacks.
Sens isn't as convienent location wise and only serves dinner until 10 p.m. (this is an issue in San Francisco, places do tend to close fairly early, especially in the downtown/financial district)
