I have yet to find a true Jewish/NY deli in Orlando, and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I don't venture much out of Orlando proper, so maybe its out there and I just haven't caught wind of it yet.

Thanks in advance...

My friends and I all like Toojay's. It's a chain, and definitely isn't kosher, but it's the closest we have to a real NY-style deli in the Orlando area. Basically, it's no Katz's Deli or Wolfie Cohen's Rascal House, but it serves our purposes just fine. They have locations on Colonial across from the Fashion Square Mall, in Altamonte Springs, and Waterford Lakes.

Thanks for the place in Altamonte, I'll check it out.

As far as Toojay's, coming from Philly, its far from a real deli to me. I understand being good enough, but when you've been spoiled your entire life, its hard to accept, lol. But thanks for the response.

Corporate, I think you'll find Amira's to be the closest thing to a true NY-style deli in Central FL. It's a locally-owned, family-owned Kosher restaurant with stacked sandwiches, wonderful chicken soup with matzo ball, half-sour pickles on the table, and if you ask, you can get a "shmear" on your sandwich...as I'm writing this I'm starting to crave that chicken soup....

Okay, the piggy back of this question, where can I find good lox, bagels, and whitefish salad in Orlando? I was hoping Amiras would have it as well, but they only seem to have chopped liver (which I was also looking for).

It appears Amira's restaurant is now closed.

Tried to go there for lunch today and there is a sign on the door of the restaurant saying the restaurant is permanently closed.

Ole Gourmet is a strictly kosher place in Fern Park - on 17-92. Service and food has been spotty at best. Also, has been closed many times and seems to change owners or management with a certain frequency. Worth a try. Maybe you will get lucky.
Sorry to hear about Amira's - We have been regulars for years and will check it out.
(In that Altamonte area probably half the places have closed recently).

Ole Gourmet did recently change owners as well. It is more Israeli than a deli though.
