Donut Plant
Had the lavender donut, blueberry, coconut creme, and chocolate blackout donuts and loved them all. Anyone try other flavors?

Huge, huge fan of the Doughnut Plant. Mark can be tempermental, but I guess many artisans are that way and he IS passionate about what he does. I’ve definitely eaten more than my share. So far I’ve tried the: Tres Leches, Blackout, Meyer Lemon, Pistachio, Coconut Cream, Strawberry, the “Elvis”, Peanut Butter and Jelly, White Peach, Caramel, Valrhona, Blueberry, Banana Pecan. The only ones I was disappointed with were the White Peach and the Blueberry. I didn’t think the flavor of the peaches came through in the glaze as his other flavorings usually do. A tasty doughnut, but not what I had hoped for. I think the “Elvis” is a limited time only thing. It’s a square yeast doughnut filled with mashed banana and covered in a slick peanut butter glaze. Wrong! Just wrong I tell you! The Blackout and Tres Leches slay me every time. The churros are pretty good too. Crispy and the outside and creamy on the inside. I've bought his doughnuts at the Dean & Deluca at Rockefeller Center, at Broadway below Houston and in the Borders Book Store on Lower Broadway near Wall St. and while they are still really good, the quality that you get at the source is definitely the best! Be warned, the DP is closed on Mondays, so none of the stores that carry them will have any Monday morning!

The tres leches are amazing. They inspired me to make my own tres leches cake. The Elvis is my favorite ever, followed by PB&J and the strawberry iced one. I wasn't a fan of the pomegranate or the apple donut. The rose water donut was better than I expected. Raspberry and the banana walnut ones were good as well.
I would really want to try the key lime one! Also, the caramel one! I want him to make a coffee donut or some more fillings. The filled donuts are awesome.
