New restaurant in Branford, CT

Has anyone tried Brunellos in Branford? I know it's the same place/chef/owner as Tenderloin, but how has it changed? I really loved Tenderloin, it was one of my favorite places in CT. Food? Decor? Prices? And do they have a website up and running yet? Thanks!

  1. Dan- tried Brunellos last week. In terms of decor appears as a redone Tenderloin but very nice. I always find it a bit loud and the waiters run around like nuts so as you know always request to be seated as far from the kitchen as possible.

    The menu was fine with a number of Goodfella's New Haven (same owner) type items on it. Cocktails $8.00 and the house salad average- my wife's medium well filet $36.00 came out rare- sent it back came out medium rare- said I wanted a discount and they comped her meal. My pasta dish was fairly good- desserts were excellent. Overall I'd give it a 7, but being so expensive and with so many other good area options I would not hurry back.

    1. If it is indeed the "same place" as Tenderloins, I won't go back. The food was very high priced for something that didn't jump off my tongue.

        Agreed. I really wanted to love (both) places. My big issue was service-- really very mediocre for those price points. Because I don't drink and he was REALLY pushing the wine maybe? It was downhill from there.

          Same owner/chef...stay away from anything of age on the wine list.

            You know what..let me rephrase that. Use your best judgment when choosing something. Everyone has "left overs" in their wine cellars. Someone else's junk is another persons treasure, is that how the saying goes. The guy is a good chef. Can't rely on what other rumors have stated in the past.

              Returned to Brunellos 4 times now and it was a great experience each time. Waitstaff is very personable, felt as if I was at home, great suggestions, nice menu, rack of lamb was unbelievable. my wife had the chefs special filet that was incredible and the creme brulee just topped it all off.
