vegetarian burgers

Hi hounds!

I'm coming to New York next month with a good friend of mine.
I've been to the city a few times before and i have my favorites. However this time around there's a twist. My friend is a vegetarian (actually i think he's lacto-ovo-vegetarian, if that's the correct word).

It's usually not a problem as there's almost always a vegetarian alternative, but with burgers it's a bit diffrent. Therefor i need your help to find a place that serves good vegetarian burgers as well as the regular ones.

Any other recommendations are of course welcome aswell.

  1. Shake Shack--fried portobello and cheese burger is great.

OMG - those are just to-die-for good. I always get extra pickles for it too. They are the best vegetarian alternative (as long as cheese is okay) of a burger I've had anywhere.

me three on shake shack...i'm not really fond of grain-heavy veg burgers, so this one really hits the spot. the cheese is a plus for me, but i've ordered without and its still lovely.

    2. Houstons has great veggie burgers.

        Houston's is terrific.

I'm also a big fan of the veggie burger at Stand. Plus they have awesome fries and shakes.

      2. Totally agree--I've had my fair share of veggie burgers and Houston's always comes out on top

I have to also throw my hat in for Houston's. I'm not vegetarian, but I always get their veggie burger the one or two times a year I end up there. I prefer it without the sweet soy glaze, but with hickory BBQ sauce on the side instead.
