I'm not a fan of their new small plates menu, but I think they are now doing a BBQ outside on weekends. I haven't been, but it sounds like fun. The advantage is that there is plenty of parking and room if you re planning to meet a bigger crowd. I've also taken my newborn to Beach Chalet for dinner without any problems. In the Marina, we have frequented Squat & Gobble and the Bay Bread places. Squat & Gobble has outdoor seating, but the crepes are unexciting. In the mission, if you're looking at a weekday, I went to Ti Couz and had a nice lunch with my baby. The table next to mine was a large party and there was another family with a ton of small children. Otherwise, it was pretty empty, so it was not loud or crowded, but had enough background noise that I didn't feel bad if my baby fussed a little. They have great coffee (roasted on site) and eclectic breakfast/lunch menu and, best of all, a great outdoor area, complete with a big box of toys and games for the kids.
