Renu Nakorns - Sweetened Coco Milk w/pulp
The long last hunt(that started months ago) for the elusive "Coconut Sweetened Milk w/ Coconut pulp" icecream has finally ended. Renu's first mistake was telling me they made it themselves, a complete lie. Second, not having it available begining around the time of the shipping strike (two months ago). I put 2 and 2 together and sent in a(well paid) spy( I gave him 10 small containers of it today). The restaurant supply(grocery store) they buy it from is LAX-C, 1100 N. Main , LA, 323-343-9000,(close to Phillips French Dip on Alameda) It's IDENTICAL and I had 4 expert(customers of Renu) friends try it today to confirm. Chino Wayne is the only one who hasn't signed off but he will when he tries it. I bought a case which has already been spoken for by several Hounds, it's really, really good. The large restaurant size is still in Thailand waiting to fill a overseas container.
The next goal is to figure out how to make the GARLIC SAUCE at ZANKOU, I'll need lot's of help on this one.

So you had a cold coconut ambrosial orgy and forgot your old buddy, eh? If you want my sign-off I expect you in my office at Noon on Tuesday with the cold stuff.

re: russkar
The guards will be instructed to verify that you have the cold stuff when you get to the door, if you do, then our secretary will come fetch you and we will enjoy some cold coconut creamy-ness together. If the guards determine that you have arrived without the coconut ambrosia, they will immediately escort you to the company cafeteria where you will do pennance in a most unsavory way.

Thanks, russkar!
As for Zankou's paste, I've been told that the secret ingredient is LARD. I can't vouch for the reliability of my source, but it makes sense.›2 Replies -

re: kevin
It's got to be easier than having to learn Thai to comunicate just to get some icecream. At least at Cecils they speak english which almost makes it too easy, we'll see?
Kevin if you want my direct E-mail contact Chino Wayne or Woo and they will be happy to give it to you then we won't have to waste precious board space strategisting the next dining experience. -
