New "California cool" restaurant on Cahuenga

Friend heard about this very recently on TV, probably Channel 7, thinks it was called "Last Call" or something similar, to suggest that it's a restaurant, the review mentioned the cool decor. Not ethnic, just California casual was the impression. Could also be on Ivar or Vine. This is a toughie! Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

you might be thinking of "Kitchen 24" on Cahuenga which recently opened.

I may be totally off base, but I'm going to say I "think" I know where this restaurant is. In the San Fernando Valley, Ventura Blvd turns into Cahuenga Blvd somewhere around Universal City. Keep going east, and I believe this restaurant is on the south side of Cahuenga where another restaurant called "Ice" used to be. I have no idea what the exact address is, but it's on that east/west section of Cahuenga Blvd before Barham and before heading into Hollywood.

You're thinking of the Casting Office, which moved down Cahuenga to the Ice location.

And a question to the original poster: Did you look on ABC7's website? I'm sure you can find it. They keep all their stories for a long time.

Sorry I didn't answer earlier, i got into checking out your description and the address and calling the old "Ice" phone number and looking on the map...but this thread led to the next response which must be what my friend heard...I really appreciate your help. New to Chowhound... and am amazed at the extent of the knowledge you all have!!! THANKS AGAIN!!!

there is also California Canteen on that same stretch of Cahuenga (3309) not far from Barham. Been there forever, or so it seems.

I could be wrong, but isn't last call a bar term, like "last call for alcohol".

That it is, so I was thinking that the place must have a full bar, maybe, but I've searched high and low for a place called "Last Call" with no luck.
