Taco Service in DF?
I need to subcontract out a taco service for an event. Does anyone know of a good company that will come with all the equipment, waiters, etc?
There are tons of companies that advertise, but I need to make sure that they serve very 'high end' tacos. Quality meats, homemade salsas, etc. I want amazing, but simple tacos .
Please write if you have hired a company like this in Mexico City and can recommend them.
El Fogoncito, in Colonia Nueva Anzures at the back of the Camino Real Hotel . . . a thriving restaurant operation which has a very popular 'we bring it to you' catering service where the grills and fresh food is brought to your event and prepared before your eyes. This is a very popular company, for this type of thing. I've never personally hired the company, but in addition to eating in the restaurant on Calle Leibnitz (at Victor Hugo) I've tasted the products at a couple of private parties. El Farolito has fantastic carne asada tacos , they make other types too my favorite is costilla . There are many locations in the city I usualy go to the one on Newton in Polanco, I have hired them in the past for private parties and it worked great ! If you want a clasic El Villamelon next to the bullring they do catering too , although it's not your clasic taco.

I am definately going to get quotes from your two suggestions. I eat at El Farolito in Condesa almost weekly, and they are good. Haven't tried El Fogoncito, but I've seen it, so I'll stop by next week.
For anyone who is interested, I received this one from Bancheff. It seems the going rate is around $90-$100 pesos a person. Basic cooking staff included, additional waiters extra.
For those whom don't speak Spanish, basically they are offering me to choose 7 of the 54 items listed at the end, plus tacos al pastor, beans, nopales, garnishes, salsas, tortillas, Tlacoyos (fried masa stuffed with fava bean or regular beans), little quesadillas of cheese or chicharon, sodas, disposables, cooking equipment and cooks. Oh, and they are throwing in a dessert as well.
If you guys want, I can post the other proposals I receive. Let me know and I will, (you never know when you are going to need a taquiza-fix!)

What this amounts to is that I'll buy all the alcoholic beverages, period. *Everything* else is covered by the caterer. It pleases me no end that none of the table service is *deshechable*. The tablecloths will be white deshilado covered with rebozos in bright colors. The dishes are clay (my choice) and the cubiertos are metal, the glasses are glass. The caterers will come early in the day of the event and set it all up. At the end of five hours, they take everything away. No fuss, no muss, no dishes to wash.
Cost per person: 270 pesos. IMHO, well worth it.
No riñones, but plenty of sesos...
This sounds like an old joke, about the guy who's been institutionalized for years. Finally he gets a new MD who starts teaching him how to function better in the outside world. After six months, the patient goes before the hospital board to petition for release.
The panel of doctors asks him several questions. Pointing to his leg joint, one doctor says, "What's this?" The guy says, "That's my knee."
