Any thoughts on L2?

I walk past L2 all the time (22nd and South) but have never tried it. Any reviews?

  1. Writing to ask the same thing - we're planning dinner after my husband's doctorate graduation, but we live out of town, and my sister-in-law who's local has small kids and doesn't eat out much. I'd welcome thoughts on L2 - the other frontrunner is Matyson, which seems to be well reviewed here and I like the menu posted online.

I don't know L2, but Matyson is not exactly kid friendly.

    2. I haven't been in a long time, but L2 is a nice neighborhood restaurant. I love the fried green tomatoes appetizer, the eggplant parm special when they have it, and their homemade desserts (that come with a big pile of fresh whipped cream.) It's a little upscale to be kid friendly, but your party is might be reserving the upstairs private room. They also make a mean cosmo. More comfort food than Matyson-style gourmet stuff. Thank you.

      1. L2 is fine. It's not anything terribly special, but it is fine. The people there are terrific and friendly.

        1. I've been there a few times as I live nearby. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat there, but it's nice as a neighborhood, low-key restaurant with a pretty cool atmosphere.

The dining options are a bit limited and maybe kind of dated, but what they have, they tend to do quite well. My main beef with them is that the menus often don't reflect what they actually *have* on any given night, especially when it comes to the wine list. I've given up ordering wine by the bottle there as they almost never have what is listed (one time I went, the only white they had by the bottle was some typical over-oaky buttery Cali chardonnay.) But the bartender is good, so go for the cocktails and you won't be disappointed.
