Ciao Bella Gelato - New Haven, CT - closed?

Just drove by this scoop shop on Wall Street, and was surprised to see it closed, with stuff being packed up. I didn't think they had much night traffic, but was surprised to see the suddeness of it. Does anyone know anything?

Does it have anything to do with Yale being on break for the summer? I just delivered to one of the schools 2 weeks ago and they were opened.

I think Tasti D-lite closed too! It was bad enough when the chapel sweet shop closed. There is some sort of anti ice cream agenda going on in New Haven! I suspect Cold Stone had something to do with it, I don't trust anyone that sings songs about ice cream for a 50 cent tip.

I think Cold Stone is vastly overrated, and I also find the whole tip thing so annoying that if I were to go back, I would not tip.
I also hear that they screw the franchisees. I guess it all goes back to Ashley's

Oh this is bad news. But what do you mean, "it all goes back to Ashley's?"

I didn't love Ciao Bella, but at least I could eat it, and Tasti D-lite was convenient. Coldstone certainly doesn't work for me: I don't like super-rich ice cream OR *things* in my frozen confections . . .

Good thing I picked up that cheap ice cream maker on Craigslist!!

P.S. I always did feel that Ciao Bella was hidden down a dark alley. A dark alley that gets considerably less foot traffic during ice cream season . . .
