Steer'n Ale Restaurant in Pasadena?

SoCal Foodie Jun 26, 2008 11:39 AM

Have driven by Steer'n Ale Restaurant in Pasadena (Foothill & Rosemead Blvds) many times and wanted to know if this place is worth checking out. Thanks!

I like it. Maybe not Ruth's like the other poster said but I like it. Like it better than North Woods Inn. Better than Sizzler in my opinion. I'd go there again. Been there about 4 times.

Worked in the area and went for lunch once and it couldn't have been that memorable otherwise I would have returned...otherwise when I see it "Steer 'N Clear".

Sounds like it was a knock off on Clearman's Steak 'N Stein down the street on Rosemead.

It always gives Northwoods Inn a good run for its money.

In my book that's about as exciting as the sound of one hand clapping.

The salads, soups, and most side orders are really poor (I guess it is pretty hard to screw up a baked potato, so those are passable). I actually tried them again (out of desperation in really bad weather and horrid heavy traffic), and they had raised their prices.

A bit better than Sizzler and at a lower price. Definitely not Ruth's Chris or Morton's by any stretch of the imagination. They do have a good New York strip deal on Tuesday nights that includes salad, baked potato, and a small dessert for $8-9.

We like them from time to time, it's not fancy but it is good. I happen to like their chili bean soup. They also have really good fried chicken.
