Cake at Vanilla Bake Shop?

Has anyone ordered any of the specialty cakes from Vanilla Bake Shop? I had a sample of their vanilla cake which I really liked and am thinking about ordering either the Black and White Raspberry Cake or the Vanilla Lemon Berry cake. Thoughts?

    1. I agree with the last comment. Just this week I bought a sampling of their little cupcakes and found them to be very dry. Too bad because they look beautiful.

How funny. My wife and I just did a taste-test between Vanilla and Yummy, since they are right down the street from one another.

The long and the short of it is, we found neither place to be worthy of repeat patronage, and that's accounting for the fact that we got 3 of the normal sized cupcakes from each bakery.

With respect to Vanilla, while their presentation was very nice, the cake WAS significantly dry ... so I am not sure their cakes would be much better.

      2. I like Susie Cakes better than Vanilla Bake Shop. There is one in Brentwood.

        1. I've actually had the opposite experience (though I will conceed that they aren't my top cupcake spot). Vanilla Bake Shop catered our wedding back when they were Amy's Baby Cakes. Our wedding cake, the strawberries and creme, was excellent. (And the guests loved the mini cupcakes and icebox desserts). We also just ordered and are in the process of eating the Fleur Del Del Chocolate cake that is featured in this month's Bon Appetit. It is AMAZING. Blows the strawberries and creme out of the water! The salted caramel is the perfect match for the dark chocolate.....I brought several slices into work today, as it is much too rich for my husband and I to polish off while it's still fresh. My co-workers were cooing.
