DEN Doughnuts on the east side?

I've been craving a good doughnut like crazy lately! Does anyone have any recs for the east side of town (Centennial/S. Aurora/SE Denver)?

  1. HT- I'm not a huge doughnut fan so I'm not a great resource. I know it's a chain but Lamar's does pretty good doughnuts (Iliff and Havana roughly) but more importantly- there is a new "mom-and-pop" doughnut place opening soon (or perhaps already open) that needs to be tried. It's on Parker near Peoria... shares a parking lot with Popeye's Chicken.

Yep, I saw that shop just yesterday. I don't think they are open yet - I'll have to keep a look out.
Yes, Lamar's is tasty but I would prefer the non-chains. Thanks!

Not on the east side of town -- not even in Denver -- but Tin Star in Evergreen does absolutely amazing doughnuts. And don't even get me started on their apple fritters.

OMG - apple fritters are my favorite. Hmmm....

    2. Walton's at Leetsdale and Monaco. Near Nonas Italian. I'm not sure what they do but the donuts are just better then all other's I've had. Small family place. Must try the glazed donut holes and the chocolate covered cinnamon roll. They sell out almost every day by about 3pm so start early.

I've also heard that Walton's has fantastic doughnuts, although I haven't had the chance to try them yet. I drive by pretty much every day, and every time I see it I think that I need to stop in and give them a try!

I think they were also named one of Denver's top doughnuts by the Post.

Walton's is our favorite - LaMar's second. Walton's has good apple fritters if you get there early enough. Also their glazed old fashions are dangerous to your waistline.

I tried to go to Walton's on Sunday after my triathlon, since I was definitely feeling like I deserved an apple fritter or just a plain old glazed. Hey, I burned the calories off, right? Unfortunately, I was denied...they're not open on Sunday! Ah well, I guess I'll just have to try again another day!

Finally got to try Walton's today. Good stuff! I had an apple fritter and a strawberry jelly-filled and also sampled part of a cinnamon/chocolate twist thingie. I felt like I was going to go into a diabetic coma afterward, but it sure was good!

Was in town for the weekend visting family - found Waltons on line and went there early Sunday AM. Fantastic! I bought way too much but how can you not? Apple fritters, old fashions, tigers tails, filled eclairs and jellys (both of which they fill TO ORDER!)

                  This place is great!
